The short version
Children do not have accounts on Coderboy. No email address, no password, no login.
The school or the parent holds the account; a child is a name on a class list. Nothing a
child does creates a contactable identity.
What we store
| Data | Why | Who can see it |
| Child's name | To show whose progress is whose | Their teacher, their parent |
| Lesson progress | Completion and certificates | Their teacher, their parent |
| Certificate record | So it can be verified later | Public, name-limited |
| Adult's email | To sign the teacher or parent in | Coderboy only |
What we do not store
- No addresses, phone numbers, dates of birth or photographs of children
- No child email addresses or passwords — they do not exist
- No behavioural profiling, no advertising, no third-party trackers on the learning pages
- We do not sell or share student data
Public certificate checks
Anyone holding a certificate number can confirm it is genuine. That page deliberately shows
a first name and an initial only — for example “Ali H.” —
with the course, the date and the issuing school. A child's full name is never published.
Access control
- A teacher sees only students in classes they teach — not the whole school.
- A parent sees only their own children.
- Sign-in is a one-time six-digit code; there are no passwords to reuse or leak.
- A teacher can remove a student from a class but cannot delete a child's record or
their certificate.
Deletion and consent
- Tell us and we delete a child's record and progress; issued certificates can be revoked.
- Consent is obtained by the school under its own policy, or by the parent. Coderboy never
approaches a child directly.
- A data-processing agreement is available on request.
Honesty note. Lessons are delivered as embedded YouTube videos, so
YouTube may set its own cookies when a video plays. We pass YouTube no information about the
child.
